Welcome to Walker-Grant Middle School!
"Excellence in Education"
At Walker-Grant Middle School we work to prepare all students to be responsible citizens and life-long learners by fostering intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
The town of Fredericksburg is rich in history and tradition. The same can be said of the schools in this community. The names Walker & Grant are forever associated with two of the community's most famous African-American educators. Please visit our History of Walker-Grant page that explains the rich heritage of our school.
Walker-Grant is the only middle school in the Fredericksburg City Public Schools. We have been a middle school since 1968 when Walker-Grant High School was transformed into Walker-Grant Middle School. In 1988 we moved into our new location at One Learning Lane. The Original Walker-Grant location now houses Student Services, Headstart and other essential programs.
Students in grades 6 through 8 enjoy many activities in addition to learning the three "R's". We offer art, music, physical education, computer training, technology education and foreign language classes. We have competitive athletic teams and afterschool clubs. We have three computer labs in the school, and every classroom has at least one computer. Our library has over 12,000 books, and we also have computers for students to use in the library. We have an active Scholastic Reader program and have tests for 1550 books. We are proud of our students and very happy for the support provided for the students and teachers by the PTA!
