Virginia Baptist College - Education

In accordance with our mission statement, our purpose is to aid local churches in their task of equipping Christians to fulfill the Great Commission. God has graciously gathered a dedicated and qualified faculty to equip believers to do the work of the ministry, in order to build the body of Christ. The goal is more than imparting academic knowledge; rather it is leading each student to spiritual maturity and Christlikeness. The College curriculum is organized to pursue this objective in a threefold manner.

To train leaders and workers to serve in local churches. In cooperation with area pastors, Virginia Baptist College seeks to provide training for Sunday school teachers, church leaders, office staff, music directors, choir members, youth workers, and Christian school teachers. Students may enroll in an individual course of special interest or pursue an associate or bachelor's degree with the necessary majors and minors to prepare them for full-time Christian service.

To train pastors and missionaries to plant and lead local churches. The basic four-year curriculum is designed primarily to train pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and other full-time Christian workers. The course of study balances a thorough investigation of the Bible and Christian theology with a strong emphasis on pastoral theology and Christian ministries. Students are expected to faithfully serve in a local church under the supervision of their pastors during their entire college experience.

To provide continuing education for pastors and church staff members who are already serving in area churches. The College provides a practical opportunity for the pastor or church staff member who may have already completed a bachelor's degree to continue his or her education. These students are always welcome to take any course that is of interest or meets a particular ministry need; in addition, the VBC Seminar, scheduled each year for the second week of June, is primarily for the benefit of full-time Christian workers.
